Time To Tie On The Apron And Have Fun Cooking

By Jane Butel  January 3, 2018

Happy New Year!  Here's to a healthy start on the New Year with learning new  culinary techniques  and finding fun ways to spice up your cooking.   Did you know that according to a University of Philippines study that eating at least 1/2 teaspoon of the hottest chile you can endure at least two thirds of the time will keep you healthy and free of heart disease and cancer?

In each class, I like to always share useful and great to know facts and history about the most popular ingredients in Southwestern and Regional Mexican cooking as these cuisines are inherently very healthful and exciting to eat.

Our next class is almost full.  It is the "Take a Tortilla and......"--a class on corn and wheat tortillas and popular dishes made from them.   It is Thursday, January 11 at 5 PM.  Our next weekend is January 26 through 28.   In every class, we teach full participation, which is great fun and the best way to learn new techniques and polish up on new tips.  At the end of each class we have a bountiful meal of the dishes prepared served with your choice of beverage including wines and beers.

In February, we are repeating our very popular 2 day Baking Workshop on Thursday, the 15th and Friday, the 16th--all day each day.  You can see the breads, pies and cakes we will be preparing.  Some highlights are Red Chile Swirl Bread, Pesto Braid, Hot, Hot Chocolate Cake with Fudge Frosting and a French Tart plus much more.

You can check out  the rest of our calendar through June, by clicking here.  We also do lots of private classes as well as team building.  For those classes, we have posted some menu ideas--however there are many, many more menus we can teach.  We will be happy to talk with you by phone at 505-243-2622 or by email at info@janbutelcooking.com.

For the weekend classes, there are many choices of terrific things to do from Museum and sight seeing to skiing or balloon riding....plus lots more.  Just check out the Albuquerque Visitor's Bureau website or that of New Mexico tourism.

Come on out---we would love to cook with you and show you genuine Western hospitality!
