Newsy Notes:

I have just been cooking on the new show, New Mexico Style on Fox, Channel 2 in Albuquerque. I appeared twice this week and will periodically appear in the future.  They have a great host, Nikki Stanzione, and are off to a great start with the show.

We have gotten numerous requests for Kids Classes.  They would feature techniques for fun cooking for ages 10 -14 and would start with a cookie bake in early December.  If you have a 8 to 12 year old that would be interested, please Email me

Christmas BellsFirst, I want to tell you that we are shipping all of our pure, fresh spices and products. We just got in the best, red chile, ristras, wreaths, blue corn products, posole and the “whole nine yards”. Our gift sets make wonderful gifts. So order now in time for the holidays and for gifting!

The Holidays are truly “the most fun time of the year” according to popular song. They are filled with memories from childhood to now for most everyone. I can remember getting my first sleigh when we lived on the Kansas farm. I got terribly cut by a barbed wire fence when our big, frightening ram came towards me as I was just getting ready to go down the snowy hill across from the house. It was where we pastured the sheep. I was afraid he would damage the sled. So I threw the sled over first, then I jumped over and caught my thigh on the barbed wire fence.

Many other memories are being home for the holidays with delicious goodies all about—cookies, candies and parties, parties and more parties. I remember one year when we were invited to a party every day but one from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

This year, I am sharing some of my favorite appetizers and side dishes that I thought you would enjoy as much as I have through the years. I am especially fond of the Elegant Pate en Gelee. And the Salmon Gravlax is just as delicious as it is pretty. Gougeres are more work, but mighty tasty.

For the side dishes, I am sharing my favorite Tequila Teased Sweet Potatoes and Parsnip and Potato Smash with Roasted Garlic.
