Here’s to a Happy and Healthy New Year!
January always brings new beginnings and hope—hope for a better year with greater peace and personal satisfaction. I don’t know about you, but it seems each passing day for a long while keeps bringing more challenging and negative news.
On a positive side, what we can change is ourselves and what we do and eat. Eating is a delicious indulgence that shapes us in more ways than one—physically for sure, and also mental outlook, disease resistance, proclivity to aging and all around joie de vivre.
Chiles are a huge help in our diet. Always try to eat chiles, at least 24 out of 30 days. Research points out that chiles raise our body’s defense system, protecting us from deadly diseases such as cancer and heart disease. What a great thing, that eating a fun, stimulating chile pod can make you healthier, age slower, be slimmer and actually help you with all your health goals.
As all of you know, I have had a lifelong love affair with chiles, as well as other sources of spice such as ginger. Spiciness makes us happier as it engages our endorphin system.
Chili is such a perfect food now. It is a wonderful time-saver. Just cook one pot when time allows and freeze and label meal-sized servings, and you have delicious, healthy, economic meals for many days to come.
Speaking of economical—you can have all this fun and health at just pennies a serving. A good thing to think about right now in this post-Holiday time.
Each of the recipes is quite different. My favorite traditional recipe is Bowl o’ Red, the traditional Texas type chili that just begs for toppings, which I call ” fixin’s ‘n mixin’s”. All of the recipes are from my newest edition of Chili Madness, which is so much fun and I am offering it at a great, low price of $10.00 plus shipping.
I am personally very busy developing, testing and writing new recipes for my next book, “Simply Southwest” which must be done in less than 2 months…so I will keep this rather brief.
To make it easier and more economic to cook chili, I am placing my chiles on a 25% off deal for this week, ending Friday, January 8, 2016 at midnight.
My next weekend cooking class is February 12-14, a wonderful way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with spicy, yummy cooking with chiles. To help celebrate, I am making this class a sweetheart class, where 2 can come for the price of 1. And, if you are without someone to share this weekend cooking class with--you can still come for half price. The cost will be 2 for $1050.00 or $525.00 each until January 8, 2016 at midnight.
